Press Release:
The following was printed in the November 2nd issue of Flower News:
A new substitute for spanish moss and sheet moss today is ASPENmoss. ASPENmoss is odorless, dirt free, dust free, mold free, moisture free and critter free. The coverage of ASPENmoss per case is 140 sq. ft. which is approximately five times that of spanish moss. It can be purchased from your local wholesaler for approximately half the cost of spanish moss on a coverage basis.
Testimonials:
AIFD designer, Kelly Steiner of Wisconsin, says she uses ASPENmoss in all her plants and arrangements. "It doesn't ‘wick’ the water and get moldy especially after repetitive watering. If ribbons come into contact with damp spanish Moss," Kelly states, "they get wet, limp and are ruined. With ASPENmoss this doesn't happen."
Kelly goes on to state, "In fresh arrangements, ASPENmoss doesn't absorb water and covers the mechanics of the arrangements perfectly and goes much further." Kelly teaches a course in basic floral design at a design school in Wisconsin. She states, "I teach the latest innovations in my classes which includes the use of ASPENmoss because it stays nice and fresh looking. My students love it."
Bernard McCall, President, Baumgarten/ Krueger Florists in Wisconsin reports that "after testing ASPENmoss on all our green plant and dish garden products, we have discontinued the use of Spanish Moss. ASPENmoss is cleaner, last longer and covers better. More importantly, it is much more economical than Spanish Moss."
Judy Altman of Altman’s Flowers and Gifts in Illinois says that "ASPENmoss is the most FLORIST FRIENDLY moss she has ever used. I use ASPENmoss in all my dish gardens, fresh, silk and dried arrangements. I also use green color ASPENmoss in our wedding bouquet holders as it covers the foam nicely and I can use less fresh greens. Also it's so soft, we can get the finest stems through it."
"ASPENmoss is not messy, not dirty and leaves no residue on our hands. I have employees that are allergic to Spanish moss and after we started to use ASPENmoss in our shop, we have had no further problems with the allergy problems. We believe this is due to ASPENmoss not having the mold and dust. We love the clean smell!"
Harold Hoffman of Hoffman’s Flowerland in Wisconsin, states that "in his experience, ASPENmoss is easier to work with and cleaner than Spanish Moss." He also states that "ASPENmoss is cheaper to use in the long run as it goes so far."
Janet Wrobel of Floral Plants in Illinois uses ASPENmoss in all their dish gardens as it doesn't get moldy. She states, "ASPENmoss lasts longer, you use less of it, it is not messy and is not dusty."
